REMINDER ON PAYMENT CARD INDUSTRY COMPLIANCE By Joe Hahn
All major credit card companies have gone tough on rules to protect customer information. New standards have been around for a few years, but they are just being enforced, particularly among most point-of-sale businesses. You do not want to be caught by the rules, because the penalty is very heavy. Positouch has been meticulously refined to be fully compliant, including the credit card components. We are writing you again so that you would avoid endangering your entire business operations.
Tip Reporting for Employers
Dear Point of Sale Professional,
A few weeks ago, we informed you about a potential Security Risk with your Point Of Sale System, (POS) and how you interface with and protect Credit Card information. We strongly advised you to take the communication seriously because any business running foul of the requirements would face serious consequences. I am writing you again because it is a very serious matter of which you cannot afford not to respond quickly.
Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover have established specific security requirements for the Payment Card Industry, (PCI) and failure to comply with these requirements can result in fines ranging up to $100,000 per month until it is determined your system meets compliance regulations. The focus of these PCI Compliance requirements involve data security to prevent credit card numbers from being stolen from your Point Of Sale System, (in this case, Positouch). CC Productions is taking this opportunity to inform you that your system may NOT be in compliance with these security regulations, however we also want to inform you there are compliant versions of Positouch available to you .
As your POS provider, we take this initiative seriously. When the new Association guidelines were announced, which prohibited the long-accepted and approved practice of storing track data, Positouch implemented changes to its POS application 5.29 to prevent the storage of full magnetic stripe data. The enhanced Positouch products have been made available to all customers since February, 2006 subject to standard upgrade charges.
We can't emphasize the urgency of this matter strongly enough. You can confirm the importance by going to the following Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover web pages:
Please contact CC Productions' main office or your account manager to determine whether your Positouch system is PCI Compliant. Neither Positouch nor CC Productions Inc are liable for any damages you could incur in conjunction with using versions of Positouch which are not in compliance with these new rules and regulations.
Thank you for you immediate attention to this matter.
